Porous Sintered Components
Sintered Bronze Filters
PORAL designs and manufactures a wide range of sintered bronze filters (316L & 304L) with many shapes to meet with the most demanding industrial requirements. Our sintered filters are also alvailable on request with Ni alloys : Inconel 600, Monel 400. Hastelloy X and C276.
Advanced porous filters
Sintered bronze porous filters
Our range of bronze filters is available on many shapes and can work under maximum temperature of 250°C under oxidizing atmosphere and of 300°C under reducing atmosphere reducing atmosphere. Advantages of bronze filters :
- Good corrosion resistance in sea water
- Compatible with oxygen, hot / cold freshwater or with diluted non-oxidizing acids (without air)
- Typically used for hydraulic and pneumatic applications

FAQ about
Sintered Bronze Filters.
Are bronze sintered filters suitable for marine or seawater environments ?
Yes, bronze offers good corrosion resistance in marine environments due to the formation of a protective layer on its surface. This property makes it a commonly used material for components exposed to seawater, particularly in marine and offshore hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
What fluids and gases are compatible with sintered bronze filters ?
Bronze filters are compatible with oxygen, hot or cold freshwater, and diluted non-oxidizing acids when air is excluded, making them well suited to hydraulic and pneumatic applications.
Why choose bronze over stainless steel sintered filters ?
Bronze is generally preferred for hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating at moderate temperatures, particularly in marine environments, thanks to its good resistance to seawater corrosion, ease of machining, and cost-effectiveness.
Stainless steel is more commonly selected for demanding applications requiring higher resistance to elevated temperatures, severe mechanical stresses, or aggressive chemical environments. The choice between the two materials therefore depends on operating conditions, the fluid involved, and durability requirements.
Can bronze sintered filters be used as silencers for noise reduction ?
Yes, bronze is commonly used to manufacture porous silencers, taking advantage of its controlled porosity to reduce noise in pneumatic exhaust and venting applications.
